Portfolio Manager, Alternative Investments

Joseph (Joe) Hernandez is responsible for supporting the Investment Management team with critical data analysis and automation in the management of current and further investment products. He assists with daily risk assessment and position analysis across all of Swan’s portfolios and strategies, as well as Swan’s overlay programs.

Prior to joining Swan, Joe spent more than 12 years as an investment and operations professional, assessing, investing and operating businesses across a diverse group of industries. As a senior associate at Virginia Capital Partners, a mid-Atlantic focused private equity firm, he was primarily focused on assessing new deal opportunities and conducting in-depth market and financial analysis and portfolio company monitoring. As an investment banking analyst at BB&T Capital Markets and Sear Marriott & Co. he helped advise clients across various sectors on M&A, capital raising, and restructuring transactions.

He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2014 with a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering.
