Chief Financial Officer

Ethan Bates is responsible for Swan’s accounting and reporting, accounts payable, fee and billing, internal controls, and investment performance measurement, including composite creation and maintenance. He also assists in the research and analysis of the DRS core equity portfolio.

Ethan joined Swan in 2012.

Prior to joining Swan, Ethan was a Senior Consultant with Deloitte & Touche’s Enterprise Risk Services group before becoming Manager of the Risk Advisory Services group of Denver’s largest public accounting firm, EKS&H. Ethan focused on finance operations and controls transformation within the financial services, retail, and energy industries. Additionally, he participated in financial and operational audits, Sarbanes readiness, service organization controls reports, general computer controls reviews, and business process audits.

Ethan was a professional supercross racer before attending the University of Colorado and graduating with a B.S. with an emphasis in accounting.

In his spare time, Ethan enjoys recreational supercross, big mountain skiing, mountain biking, traveling with his wife, lake days, and the pursuit of the world’s tastiest pancake.

The rest of his time is spent entertaining and exercising his two bird dogs.
